Tutor and Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in tutoring and volunteering with Colorado “I Have A Dream” Foundation. We are thrilled you are considering becoming a part of our family of supporters. All of our tutors and volunteers will be required to attend an orientation session before engaging in our daily/weekly or monthly/quarterly/semester opportunities. At this orientation, we will provide you with all of the information and training necessary to support our youth and their families successfully.

To learn more about tutoring and volunteering, please contact Aimee Alcorn at aalcorn@cihadf.org or call 303-861-5005.

Tutoring

Our tutoring program is a youth-centered academic tutoring experience. We ask tutors to commit to a minimum of one hour per week. The focus of tutoring will be homework help and academic intervention based on individual youth needs. We ask tutors to complete one training session with us before beginning. Prior tutoring/teaching experience is not required.

Volunteering

Our weekly volunteer program is an opportunity to assist with programming at one of our two regional sites. We ask weekly volunteers to commit to a minimum of one hour per week. The focus of volunteer time will be on supporting program activities and working directly with the youth as needed. We ask volunteers to complete one training session with us before beginning. Prior volunteer experience is not required.

Guest Speakers

Are you passionate about your career? Do you have a knack for gardening or painting? Is building robots a weekend hobby? We are looking for experts to join our enrichment courses as guest speakers. Volunteers will be paired with the course instructor to determine the frequency of your guest speaker series (once a month, bi-monthly, once a semester) that best meets your schedule. These courses take place Monday-Thursday between 4:30 and 5:45 PM or Friday between 2:30 and 4:30 PM. We ask guest speakers to commit to at least a 45-minute session on the day(s) of your choosing.

One-Time/More Flexible Opportunities

We are open to hosting other groups for one-time volunteer opportunities. Please contact Kimberlee Sia at ksia@cihadf.org or 303-861-5005 x100 to discuss the possibilities.

Support The Mission

  • Cash donations are the simplest and easiest gifts you can make. Cash gifts can be made by credit/debit card online, or you can mail a personal check, cashier’s check, or money order made payable to:

Colorado “I Have A Dream” Foundation
    Attention: Stephanie Dreiling

  • Donating appreciated securities, stocks, and bonds have considerable tax advantages when transferred to Colorado “I Have A Dream” Foundation before they are sold. If you have appreciated securities, you may find that your gift will provide a two-fold tax benefit, creating an income-tax deduction, as well as helping avoid the capital-gains tax that would have been due on their sale. If you wish to transfer stocks from a broker’s account, contact Stephanie Dreiling, VP of Finance & Operations, by email or call 303-861-5005 x104.
